Passenger Warning Placard — Experimental Aircraft
Passenger Warning Placard — Experimental Aircraft
What if the required Passenger Warning placard in your experimental aircraft looked like a proper cockpit component instead of a cheap sticker?
You don’t have to settle for thin decals that fade, peel, or snag a passenger’s clothing during entry.
You’ll install a clean, durable placard with radiused corners, high-contrast lettering readable from about 30 inches, and a classic aircraft look with a white border and simulated fasteners.
Designed and made by a pilot for a pilot. This Passenger Warning placard satisfies the requirement of 14 CFR 45.23(b) for experimental amateur-built aircraft, which requires that passengers be informed the aircraft does not comply with the certification standards of standard aircraft.
The placard measures 4.0” × 1.5” and features radiused corners so it will not snag passenger clothing when entering or exiting the cockpit.
This size was intentionally chosen to fit common cockpit rail installations—particularly aircraft like the Van’s RV-8, where the cockpit side rail typically provides about 1.5 to 2 inches of usable width. The placard fits comfortably on the rail while remaining highly visible to passengers during entry.
Each placard is 3D printed from multiple layers of thermoplastic, producing a rugged background with recessed lettering. The warning text is finished in silver for strong contrast, making the placard readable from roughly 30 inches away, even for aging pilot eyes.
A white border frames the placard, and two simulated aircraft fasteners give it the look of a traditional panel-mounted plate rather than a simple sticker.
The placard is fully encapsulated in UV-tolerant urethane to provide long-term durability in the cockpit environment.
For installation, the placard is backed with 3M VHB (Very High Bond) double-sided adhesive, providing a secure and permanent attachment to cockpit rails, door frames, and interior panels.
Size: 4.0” × 1.5”
